Here’s How to Easily Change Wi-Fi on Nest Cameras (EASY Steps)

Did you just change your Wi-Fi password or network name? If you did, here’s how to update this information on your Nest camera.

When you change your Wi-Fi password or network name, it should be updated in Google Home or Nest app as well, otherwise your Nest camera will be offline.

You can easily change Wi-Fi on your Nest indoor camera Wi-Fi Nest app without removing it or scanning QR code.

However, to update Nest outdoor camera Wi-Fi settings, you must first remove it from the app, and then set it up as a new device with updated Wi-Fi network details.

You can change your Nest Indoor Camera Wi-Fi without scanning the QR code. Here’s how to do that:

Before you proceed, make sure that you have the latest version of the Nest app installed on your iOS or Android device.

  1. Go to the place where your Nest camera is installed and turn on your phone’s Bluetooth.
  2. Open the Nest app. Tap on the gear icon to open “Settings”.
  3. In Settings, tap on “Home info” and then select “Home Wi-Fi help”.
  4. Select the camera for which you want to update the network information and then tap on the “Start” button.
  5. Tap on the “Update Settings” option in the next window.

If prompt for a QR code, you can enter your manually enter your camera key or serial number.

2. Change Nest Outdoor Camera Wi-Fi

To update Wi-Fi information on Nest outdoor cameras or to connect it to the new network, you’ll need to first take it off the wall and then remove it from Google Home or Nest.

After that, set it up again as a new device with your new Wi-Fi information.

Now let’s explain each step in detail.

Note that when you factory reset your Nest camera, all the video history and snapshots will be deleted.

Open Nest or Google Home app. Tap and hold the camera tile and then tap on Settings at the top right.

Tap on the “Remove Device” option. This will also factory reset your Nest camera.

Once the factory reset operation is completed, tap on the “+” icon at the top left and then select the “Set up device -> New devices” option.

Select your Nest cam model from the list.

Now, a camera will open inside the app. Scan the QR code on the back of your Nest Cam.

If you want to proceed without scanning the QR code, tap on “Continue without scanning” option and type the numbers above the QR code.

Select the location where you will be installing your camera.

Note that whatever location you select, your camera will be named accordingly.

For example, if you select Basement, the app will name your camera as “Basement Camera”.

Tap on “Continue”. Now, you will be asked to install the device where you want it and plug it in.

Once done, tap on “Continue”.

Allow your Nest Cam a few minutes to boot.

Select your new Wi-Fi network from the list. Enter the new password for the network and tap on the “Join” button.
